China Racing was today announced as the second team to race in the inaugural Formula E season. The team is led by Yu Liu, chairman, and Steven Lu, chief executive. The team will use customer cars in the first season but aims to partner Chinese car manufacturers to become a constructor within three years. The team has previously featured in other FIA ratified races, including A1 GP. Qinghua Ma, the first Chinese driver to pilot a Formula 1 car, drove for the team in 2005.
Yu Liu commented: “I believe Formula E is a perfect platform for China Racing and our key partners to get involved in the future of motor sport. Our presence in the Championship will encourage millions of Chinese fans to follow the series.”
