Lucas di Grassi set the fastest lap of FP3, the first practice session of Sunday’s Montreal Formula E race day. The Brazilian appeared calm and happy all morning, perhaps unsurprising given his pole position and victory yesterday which have propelled him to the lead of the championship battle with a single race remaining.
Championship contender Sebastien Buemi was a little more tentative, given that he is still effectively bedding in a new car, but the Swiss driver was also looking particularly composed.
Both drivers know that a single mistake (such as that practice shunt of Buemi’s yesterday) could end the championship with a whimper rather than a bang.
Elsewhere in the field, most drivers opted to remain on 170kW to ensure they have a clear idea of how to run the race later on today. Antonio Felix da Costa had a welcome appearance in the top five while all 20 drivers were within 2.6s of each other at the close of session.
