Alex Lynn hopes that he can stake a claim for a full-time drive in Formula E for season four with an impressive display during his debut outing for DS Virgin Racing in New York.
2014 GP3 Series champion Lynn angled for a drive in Formula E with Jaguar last summer before ultimately joining DS Virgin in a reserve role, supporting full-time drivers Sam Bird and Jose Maria Lopez.
With Lopez unavailable for the New York race weekend due to his commitments in the FIA World Endurance Championship, Lynn was given the call-up and will make his maiden Formula E start on Saturday.
“I feel very excited to be honest,” Lynn told Current E. “We’ve practiced for a long time this day. From our side it’s about executing everything we’ve practiced. I’m excited to see what we can do.
When asked about his targets for the weekend, Lynn said he would reserve judgement until after practice when he can gauge his competition and place in the pecking order.
“We’ve got a few targets in mind,” Lynn said. “But from my side, we’ll adjust those as and when practice finishes and see our competitive level.
Looking ahead to season four, Lynn is hopeful that he can secure a full-time drive, but the Briton remains focused on making a good impression on his first outing in New York.
“I’d love to be involved in this championship in a full-time role,” Lynn said.
“But from my side I think my job is just to focus on this race, and see what happens after that.”
