Former Formula 1 driver Roberto Merhi revealed to Spanish radio station COPE that he will compete in the fourth season of Formula E.
The Spaniard did not disclose which team he would be joining but said he would begin preparations for the 2017-2018 campaign “from the first day in September”. Merhi admitted he was “very curious” to drive the Formula E car as “it is a very different competition” to single-seater championships he has previously raced in.
Merhi contested 13 F1 grands prix for Manor in 2015 and recorded a best finish of P12 at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. He completed a part-time campaign in the World Endurance Championship during 2016 with the Manor LMP2 squad and most recently tested FIA F2 machinery with Campos Racing in Barcelona pre-season testing last month.
