Budding motorsport livery designers, assemble! Mahindra Racing is giving you an unique opportunity to showcase your skills by designing its race car skin for the third Formula E season. Jaw firmly dropped.
The Indian team has always put fan engagement at the heart of its approach to the series. It has previously invited fans to submit designs for a track layout in New Delhi, published a series of gorgeous race posters since the very first Formula E race and committed to sharing technical info through our own Blueprints series. The various initiatives dreamed up by the team contributed to Mahindra Racing swiping the social media award at the end-of-season prize giving in London last month.
But the best is yet to come. In the latest campaign, unveiled this week, fans could see their design adopted by Mahindra for the entirety of season three. Yes, you read correctly. Your sketches could venture from Hong Kong to New York, adorning the M3Electro.
Mahindra Racing has linked up with prestigious Italian design house Pininfarina (which parent group Mahindra & Mahindra owns), which released a sheaf of chassis concept designs for future Formula E cars earlier this year to get us all salivating.
You have until August 10 to submit your designs using the M3Electro kit found at Mahindra’s Facebook page. The winning entry will be picked by Pininfarina chief designer Fabio Filipinni and receive the honour of being the brains behind Mahindra’s new livery. Oh and there’s a trip to Pininfarina’s headquarters in Italy included in the prize, too. Yes please. And yes please some more.
“We want to help Mahindra Racing fans from all over the world to feel part of the team,” Mahindra Racing team principal Dilbagh Gill said. “It is not just our immediate team that has ingenuity, passion and relentless drive when it comes to our motorsport activities. Mahindra fans have it in plentiful supply as well. I am pleased to be able to partner with Pininfarina to offer such an exciting, once-in-a-lifetime prize for this competition.”
