Frenchman Franck Montagny will drive for Andretti Autosport in the inaugural Formula E season.
Montagny has a diverse driving background, including stints in F1, endurance racing and IndyCar. His relationship with Andretti includes two seasons as an IndyCar driver, in 2009 and this year, and in the American Le Mans Series, in 2008. He also raced briefly for Super Aguri, so the Formula E grid will hold more familiar faces.
Andretti has yet to reveal its second driver. Although it seems that its celebrity IndyCar drivers are interested in driving some of the races – including Marco Andretti – the FIA has reportedly prohibited part-time drives.
“It is a great honour to be racing again with Andretti Autosport and Michael Andretti.” said Montagny. “I am convinced that this new fully-electric technology will become a very important characteristic of our day to day lives in the future, and this high-level racing competition will very quickly bring new technical developments just as Formula 1 did in the past for everyday automobiles.”
