Oliver Turvey will not miss the 2016 Berlin Formula E round, lining up alongside Nelson Piquet to contest the race with NextEV TCR.
The British driver had planned to skip the German race due to a schedule clash with the Super GT series, which Turvey had signed up to before his Formula E stint. However, earthquakes in the area have led to the Japanese race being postponed, leaving Turvey free to take to the streets of Berlin later this month in the electric NextEV TCR racing car.
“My thoughts go out to everyone affected by the earthquakes that have hit Kyushu,” Turvey said in the official team statement. “It’s understandable that the organisers have had to postpone the Super GT race at Autopolis, but I hope we can race there later in the year for all the fans in the Kyushu region. It now means that I am available to race in the next round of the Formula E Championship. I’m looking forward to racing on this new track and will be pushing for a strong points finish.”
Tuvey currently sits P14 in the drivers’ standings, with 10 points to team mate Piquet’s 4.
