Preparations are well underway for Saturday’s second round of the 2015-16 Formula E championship. Given the weather forecast, however, the teams might be better off building boats rather than racing cars.
Our ace photographers Shiv, Dan and Marta spent the day dodging rain drops and larking about in umbrella hats amidst the sweltering Malaysian humidity. (We’d show you the evidence but we simply can’t on grounds of common decency.)
The most noticeable difference at the venue compared to last year’s event is the absence of the impressive three-storey structure that had housed garages, media centre, catering and the eMotion club. It had towered over the pitlane, mirroring the imposing architecture on the other side of the main straight and creating something of a tunnel for the cars to shoot through. This time, the pitlane is populated by the temporary structures seen at other venues, making the main straight feel a lot more open.
Here are some snaps from Current E’s trackside team from build day.
