Video: the new official Formula E website features a dramatic video trailer.
The vehicle shown was an early prototype however, with later events attended by a sleeker, silver car. The short film shows a tablet computer slotting in to the steering wheel. I hope that makes it to the real cars, not just because it looks cool (which it does) but because the instant boost in consumer recognition should add to the strong business case and sponsorship opportunities for the new series.
Track design and spectator safety obviously were not at the forefront of the producers’ minds when the video was made however: the racing cars seem to be awfully close to children playing at the side of the track. Still, it brings a whole new meaning to “easy access to drivers”.
